Fortum strengthens cost-effective and secure communications solutions in partnership with Connected Finland. Development contains Fortum’s SmartLiving services, which are smart solutions for homeowners, builders and private homes. SmartLiving services can be used for monitoring indoor temperature and humidity measurements of buildings, as an example. Key point is to develop IoT-based services according to the needs of the residents. Smoke alarms, water leakage and motion detectors can also be integrated in the future into these services.
The signed agreement with Connected Finland enables advanced IoT communications in several European countries via Sigfox networks. Sigfox is the world’s leading web technology and ecosystem developed on the Internet of Things. The first Sigfox networks were launched in 2012, and today the ecosystem is active in 45 countries.
Fortum will use Connected Finland’s represented Sigfox (LPWAN) IoT communications network in its IoT communications. With new IoT communications solutions, Fortum is able to provide real-time real estate information to its customers. Small sensors installed on SmartLiving sites are able to provide useful data to customers via the international Sigfox network.
– We are delighted to start to use Sigfox’s IoT communications network in our own service offering in several European countries. One agreement with IoT’s pioneer Connected Finland covers several countries, it makes our operations much easier, says Anne Salonen from Fortum.
– It’s great to start collaborating with a partner like Fortum. They’re willing to use the latest IoT technology internationally. We are excited to offer new cost-effective Sigfox IoT communications solutions, says Markku Patronen from Connected Finland.
