LABÈGE, France and BRATISLAVA, Slovakia, November 29, 2016. Sigfox, the world’s leading provider of connectivity for the Internet of Things (IoT), and its partner SimpleCell Networks today announced the roll-out of the Sigfox network in Slovakia. Sigfox is currently available to nearly 30% of the population in Slovakia thanks to the cooperation with Towercom, a company owned by Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund 4.
The network roll-out in Slovakia follows the finalization of the first commercial use cases in the Czech Republic. Thanks to the close cooperation between SimpleCell Networks and T-Mobile Czech Republic, it already covers almost 85% of the Czech Republic’s territory. Additionally, the first commercial implementations such as monitoring the availability of parking spaces in Liberec are being launched.
“We see a great opportunity to replicate the accumulated know-how with Sigfox in other countries and with regards to the strong ties between the Czech Republic and Slovakia, we decided to become the exclusive Sigfox operator in Slovakia, “ says Jan John, Group Director of SimpleCell.
“The fast adoption of Sigfox’s connectivity solution is due to the substantially overlapping ecosystem of hardware producers and system integrators in both countries. “
Major companies which launch projects using the Sigfox network also include Liptovska Water Company, Inc. and ENGIE Services, Inc.
The Liptovska Water Company project aims to demonstrate that, thanks to extensive deployment of sensors, the company will increase the efficiency of its primary network, limit leakage and theft of water, thus preserving the environment as well as reducing the costs for customers.
The largest heating and facility management company in Slovakia, ENGIE, utilizes sensors which detect any loss of air conditioning and ventilation in critical areas such as warehouses and offices, thus enabling energy-efficient buildings.
“We are very excited to add a new country to our network in Central Europe and look forward to extend our partnership with SimpleCell Networks, our operator in Czech Republic”, says Rodolphe Baronnet-Frugès, Sigfox executive vice president networks and operators.
“We are confident that this move will deliver tremendous benefits across the entire region, and couldn’t think of a better partner to make IoT a short term reality as well as drive a vibrant ecosystem of partners.”
